Suggestions for good movies?

I enjoyed "The Pursuit of Happiness".

The Illusionist

Little Miss Sunshine.  Contains some profanity, but everything else is hilarious. 

Lord of the Rings.

Braveheart.

For the most part, movies are pathetic these days.  It is one of the few drawbacks of our technological world.  Too many people get their lame stories made in to movies.  Too many people find ways to make cool stuff happen on computers, and force it into a movie, with no good story. 

I like this example.  100 years ago, if 5 stories were written, the majority of the world might hear one of those stories, because it was excellent, and it spread by reputation.  Today, 300 stories are written, and if we wanted, we could hear them all, even tho probably 299 of them are completely stupid, unclever, regurgitated plots.

Well, that is my theory.  You don't see many movies like My Cousin Vinny, Top Gun, Star Wars, or Fletch movies anymore.

holy crud... did you seriously just show me the ratings for Gigli?  That movie was awful.  I kept waiting for something to happen, to explain all of the non-stop cussing in that movie.  I finally turned it off, took out the dvd, and drove it back to the video store as fast as possible before i became any stupider just from having it on my possession.

dude, 989 people thought that GIGLI was a perfect 10. that's my point. this is the new world, one where everyone gets everything customized to them.

I have to give a shout out for "Samaritan Girl". Amazing Korean film...if you can stand the dark disturbing side of it all, with young girls doing prostitution. I turned off the movie twice cause it was disturbing me, but glad I finished it. Great directing, great plot, awesome acting.

My top ten would have to include

Fried Green Tomatoes

Ghost

blood diamond

leo is hotter than eugene
