Thanks everyone for all the feedback on bugs and features that you've given over the first week of TurtleFox's existence. It's been an extremely busy and crazy week for me trying to keep up with all the requests. I thought I'd outline some of the large enhancments that have been made recently to let everyone know that I do appreciate your feedback, and act on most of your comments/suggestions assuming they're not completely ludicrous.

  • Improved Message Center: I have improved the navigation and readability of the messages center so that you can more easily see which messages are new, navigate from one message to the next, and take you to the appropriate page when you're done sending/deleting messages.
  • Edit/Delete Comments: I've added the ability to edit/delete your own comments that you make on blogs and photo albums for those people that aren't perfect and can't get it right the first time around. In addition, as the creator of a blog or album, you have the ability to delete other people's comments in case you feel they are inappropriate, rude, or just flat out annoying.
  • Smarter Emails/Notifications: A major issue with TF (TurtleFox) was the number of emails you could get throughout the course of a day. Assuming most people have lives and don't have time to login to TF every 5 minutes to view the new blog or album, that means that at the end of the day, you could find yourself with 20+ TF notification emails in your inbox. A bit overwhelming yes. I've now improved the logic a bit, so that you can still have email notifications turned on, but it is able to determine if you haven't yet responded to the first notification email you got, and if not, it won't send you a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc email. For example, assume I've read everything and seen everything on TF...and my friend Erik comes along and posts a new blog. Assuming I have notifications turned on, I'll get an email. However, I'm away from my computer for the day, so I don't actually get the email or view the blog. Then 20 minutes later, my other friend Jack posts a new blog. The system sees that I already have unviewed blogs, so it doesn't bother to send me a second email. The same logic applies to photo albums as well. This should greatly reduce the # of emails you get throughout the day.
  • New Blogs & Photos: It was a common complaint trying to hunt down new photos and blogs on the site that you haven't yet viewed. There is now a very easy way to see all the new comments, messages, AND BLOGS & PHOTOS that you haven't yet viewed on your "my home" page. Once you've viewed them, they are removed from this list. This should make keeping up with all the new content of your friends much much easier.
  • Adding Friends: When adding friends, the system is a bit more user friendly about helping you determine if the friend is already registered at TF or not. If they are not, it tells you so, and changes the custom message to one that makes sense for a non registered TF person. Hopefully this will make adding new friends that aren't yet members of TF a little bit smoother.

There are still a lot of improvements I'm working on, that should be released soon. The biggest feature coming soon will be the ability to "track content". This will allow you to see new comments on any blogs or photo albums that you deem interesting, and want to track within your "my home" section along with all of your own content.

Thanks again for all your support and help on building out the site's features.
