Times have changed: TV commercials

Submitted by scott on Fri, 04/03/2009 at 4:28pm.

So lately I have been reading a book about the Korean War prisoners.  It's quite interesting learning of the prisoners who chose to stay behind after the war and adopted Communism -- although for only a short stint for most of them.

Through more digging I stumbled upon this Mike Wallace interview with one of the defecting soldiers.  The "commercials" are the intriguing part.

Yup, I grew up with those commercials and now Phillip Morris is paying out money to educate young people on the ills of smoking.  Is Mike Wallace dead?  of lung cancer?

it's crazy to see Mike Wallace doing the interview while smoking. The commercials are interesting too. I'm glad things have changed.

I thought the interview was really interesting.  I wonder what that guy's opinions are now.  Fascinating.  I thought the part about brainwashing was interesting.  The group discussions about everyone's weaknesses were crazy  Sheesh.  I guess that is one way to do it.
