Severson Gamerz?

Submitted by Eric on Fri, 02/16/2007 at 8:56pm.

I was just wondering if I am the last Severson still involved in the world of online gaming. Back in the day when Jay reigned supreme in the world of Starcraft, I was too young to play. And by the time I was, he had become more absorbed in "real" life. Guess I was just born in the wrong era.
Anyway, are there any of you guys that are still cool? It seems most of the grandchildren have become way too grown up to spend their time pwning noobs. Oh well...

Hey you monsters gamers I just got a X-Box Live from christmas. I HATE PROS which are PWNING ME! also just you know my username is Alsterpal. NOTE I don't have the head phones to hear someone talking. Also try World of Warcraft which It is for Computers like the one your using to read, but you have to pay $15 each months but it's still fun. Hope you survive from PROS in the games. (somtimes i dont play X-Box often everday.) The only X-box live games i have is Halo 2 and call of duty 2 the big red one. I often played World of Warcraft because Halo 2 takes a longer load to get it started up the game.

I think most of us are all in the same boat now Eric.  Kids, wives and too many other things going on.  Scott is the only one without an excuse right now.  I occassionaly get on and play CS.  I even fired up Starcraft the other day.

I haven't played a game of SC in over a year, although I'd happily get online and play some 2v2@huntaz!!! if anyone is interested in doing a Severson SC night (or I guess 4v2@huntaz for people that want the teams to more FAIR!). The only game that I actually still play, maybe once every couple weeks, is Counter strikes source. If you have that, I can give you the public server that me, geoff, and scott play on, and we can do a CS night. However, as Sean stated, I've been too busy building websites and spending time with family to do much gaming any more.

Oh yeah...and I HATE console gaming... :)  I can't use a controller for the life of me. I'm all about mouse and keyboard. But I am heavily involved in the console gaming scene still. We just finished a tournament for NHL hockey, where the winner got a dodge nitro at the NHL all star game, pretty cool. And now I just found out I got some tickets to the NCAA march madness final games in Atlanta, GA this year, as part of this tournament we're running, the Pontiac Virtual Final Four, where the winner gets a new Pontiac car. It's not too late to register and compete. :) If you want a better chance of going to the finals, I'd recommend competing on the xbox, not the xbox 360. We have over 3000 people registered on xbox360 and only a few hundred on the xbox. I run these types of tournaments for 2k sports about 3-4 times a year.

I played a first person shootem on the X-Box a few weeks ago.  Let me tell you using one of those controllers is horrible compared to a mouse.  You spend about 5 minutes just aiming.

Over 3000 people? o_O also It takes practice to get used to some video game controllers and also I wanted to try Starcraft but i couldn't find one at any stores also I just got World of Warcraft and it turns out to be funner than Halo 2. I heard that Starcraft was an old game so they probably stop selling them, i'll try ebay someday.

Ok, new console games might be pretty bad, but N64 was the greatest. Ocarina of time and Super Mario 64 are probably the greatest games ever. And I can't wait to get the Wii. Anyway, it'd be awesome to have a Severson Starcraft Night. Jay would say he's all rusty but he could still beat us all combined.

But wii is really hard to use i mean it has to be pointing forward to the T.V. even though if you werent pointing it you couldve just made your arm tired and getting attacked by monster, getting run over by a tank, or moving away from traps. I have Ocarina of Time and it was a long amazing adventure. I got another kind of Ocarina of Time game called zelda the twilight princess that i got from christmas for gamecube, I heard that they say it's better than Wii because they were having trouble aiming it with T.V. and they often got tired of holding it. I also heard a T.V. accident when someone slipped the remote to the T.V. and destroyed it. I have also tried the wii at the store and it was really hard to use when i first used it. I often get killed by monsters in the demo version of Wii. Someday i'll beat Jay all by myself even though he's hard. NEVER BUY A PS3!!! my friend had one and he said that it was a waste of money. So I'll stick to X-box, Gamecube and N64. Remember, dont get too interested in graphics, get interested in FUN!!!! also Wii may sound fun but It could cause trouble.

I really like playing All Star Baseball on the Nintendo.  No, that's no Game Cube or Nintendo 64,  just the original Nintendo.  I also liked the tank game on Atari and once in a while, I play FreeCell on my PC.  My winning percentage in Freecell is AWESOME!!!

I put in FAR too much time on World of Warcraft.  Fair warning kids, that game will devour your entire existence if you aren't careful.  I'm actually in the process of selling my WoW account right now.  My roommate just sold his for $1400, and I expect to get that much or more for mine.  I have a level 70 Mage, a level 70 Rogue, a 46 Hunter, and a whole bunch of lower lvl alts.  I've been a serious gamer since my mom brought home our first PC when I was about 13.  It was a 486DX66.  Basically that means it was before the time of the Pentium, and it ran DOS.  I remember creating a menu system on it so that mom could get into Word Perfect or Quicken.  Anyway, I love gaming, and almost always have at least 1 video game that I'm putting some time into, but I think WoW is going to be my first and last MMO that I'll play.  I just have a horribly addictive personality, and it's a bit too hard for me to sign off and walk away from games like that.  Next up:  The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.  Single player games ftw!
Oh and Andrew is also a huge gamer.  He's the one who tricked me into playing WoW in the first place.

I never play WoW but i have a lvl 20 tauren druid (crazytauren)
the game just takes too much time and I don't think it's worth it

most of my time is spent playing wii because it is the best system ever. zelda twilight princess and need for speed carbon are really fun. the wii is fun, cheap and reliable.

OK, I don't really play games, but at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this year, I spent a lot of time playing Need for Speed and it is fun to wrecklessly drive a car really fast.  The best part was that I was using this controller that provided a weight workout at the same time as you played.  Eric, maybe this is something you should look at?  http://www.powergridfitness.com/  This thing actually made NfS really fun because you could just totally reef on the thing and get your whole body into the game.  Fun!!

Well, I have a few bigelow girls that are totally sucked into Sims 2 and don't forget Sims 2 Pets.  All I know is it's the most irritating game to try and get to stop playing it's redundant music.  The last computer game I played was Shanghai and I believe that was about 10 years ago....i thought it was so cool the way you could get these historical tile matches and then it would play a quick excerpt of an appropriate song....nevermind, only someone as crazy about music as me would think that was interesting.....we don't even have any kind of game cube, nintendo or any such thing here at this girl haven, so I really shouldn't be posting on this blog

Now this blog is getting a little closer to my level.  I was pretty lost with all the comments by Alex and Eric and Miguel and Ben Mike, but I thought it was cute that they were really getting into it.  I like Suduko and Super Bounce Out.  No sound with Suduko but that Bounce Out probably drives Brad crazy late at night listening to the balls banging and bouncing, but the BEST sound is when they rub together and make a squeeky noise just like the real thing.

I can't believe somebody else still plays The Sims!  I've finally mastered the original game in the last month - racking up like $20,000 after buying and building everything possible.  I'll have to look into Sims 2 and Sims Pets, not sure what the "2" has in terms of additional features.  Which girls play?  Well... meet us at Burney and I can talk to them about the games!

Wow Troy I checked out that excer-station thing and it's pretty cool. But it costs more than the game system itself...
