new car

Submitted by Franky on Mon, 03/03/2008 at 9:29pm.

Just to keep every one up to date Grandpa and I have abandoned the Vollvo line of cars.  We bought a new car Saturday with the help of our backups Troy, Sean, Sue getting info from a friend, and a couple of our friends from the ward one who is aSherwood police officer and the other who works with various auto dealerships. The bottom line is that we now are the owners of a Subaru Forester  Red know as Garnet Red Pearl.  It is a beautiful color.  Been a long time since we owned a red car.    It does have a sun roof and roof rack which we weren't too anxious to have but it came as a package with other things we did want.  When we drove it off the lot it had 8 miles on it and part of that was the test drive se took.  It hadn't even been test driven be anyone else.  Sean has agreed to take on the job of selling our Volvo for us.  The bottom line was @24,500 about $8000 less than the Volvo V50 we were looking at.  It is very comparable in all features including a better front end crash rating which was 4 star for the Volvo and 5 star for the  Subaru. So look out if you see a couple of old people driving a red car.

How neat! Congrats!!

Jodi left her Volvo here while she went to Oregon with her Mom, and I have been driving it, now and then.It is a great car, rides like a dream and so comfortable. Gets alot better mieage than either of our cars. I detailed it out and it looks like a brand new car. Very good condition.

My nephew works for a Subaru dealership in Eugene. He just got one for my other nephew. They love these cars and also said they are very safe. Good choice! Can't wait to see it.

That's really nice--so fun to have a new car.  Was the last red one the old Volvo?

Good job Grandpa and Grandma!  Does it have 4 wheel drive?  Can we take it out to the desert and sand dunes?

Glad to hear that you got something new and reliable, and is full time 4 wheel drive.  Is it a 2008 or 2009?   I think the 2009's are coming out now...  If you got a 2008 they should have given you a great deal!

Yes, a good deal.  Sometimes silence and waiting are great negotiation tactics.

Clark it is 2008 but we did et a good deal especially the 0% financing. Can keep our money in savings earning interest and  just take a little out each month to make the pmt.  Actually it is for 2 yrs. and at the pmt rate it will be pd. No valorie we did have a red Volvo at one time but the last one was black.  We had a blue one in between that we really like but had to have AWD up here.

My question was "was the last red car you had the red volvo?  I knew your last car was black but I do remember the old red Volvo MANY years ago.

I got to see it in person last week, and it is very nice and shiny looking! I agree, though, pictures on TF would be great.

Yes our last Volvo was black  the on before that was a beautiful blue but we needed AWD here on the hill.  the one before that was red Got close to 300,000 on it be fore we were plowed into on the side with a pick up.  the first one ws green and it burned in the fire.
