Identity Theft

I just read a horrible story on the Reader's Digest website about identity theft.  I couldn't imagine if I had to deal with that problem.  They list a few things you can do to lessen your chances of being a victim.  One is to 1. Opt out of unsolicited credit card offers by calling 888-567-8688 (supported by the consumer credit reporting industry).   That took about 5 minutes and it's all automated.  Good luck.

Thanks Thao, interesting.  I actually like the offers as I continually move balances from one 0% to another 0% that has no transfer fee and NO costs to me whatsoever.  That frees up my money in savings to earn interest and if I there is ever a need I can pay off the card.  Been doing this for years.  Due to the current economic situation the 0% offers have come to a dead halt and/or want to charge a 3% transfer fee AND the money market interest is decreasing daily so my game plan is changing. ha ha  AND any offers I throw away are shredded.
