Heifers

Well the heifers are now quite accustom to Dad.  He has been feedin them grain up near the water trough so when he "moos" at them they come running.  Saturday though we had 3 critters in the pasture A full grown doe deer was eating right beside the heifers. I guess when she saw Dad about 40 feet from here she just looked up at him and then went right back to eating. The fences are high enough for cattle but those darn deer can clear a six foot fence with no trouble.

I can attest to that. We were over last night and I hadn't ever met the cows, so we were out on the deck trying to see them. They were back around behind the barn. So Grandpa "mooed" to them, and sure enough, they came running around the corner and up to the trough. Then, of course, he had to go feed them something so he can keep his creditability with them :-)

So far they seem to like Floyd more than anyone else.  Of course he bribes them with grain.  Day before yesterday though when he went out to the Garden there were three critters in our yard.  A big doe dear decided she wold eat right next to the two heifers.  Didn't even run away when she saw Floyd. Floyd was surprisd at her composure.  Our 4 1/2 foot fences aren't even a challenge to the Deer.
