DMV Experience today-True Story

Submitted by Brad on Tue, 05/12/2009 at 12:55pm.

I went to the DMV today to get a duplicate license. I'm standing in line and this loud and obnoxious guy is talking on his phone through two headphones. Finally, a guy speaks up and asks him to quiet down. The obnoxious guy tells him to forget it, and asked him "Who gave you a badge to wear? " Then  he goes up to the counter and tells the receptionist that he is a recent parolee and needs a Calif ID Card. There was hushed silence after that!! We were all nice and pleasant to him at that point.

Funny!!  I always want to be the person to speak up but never get brave enough to do it: )

oh man, gotta love those 'perspective' stories.  if i have learned one thing from watching the Ultimate Fighting sport, it is that I won't ever talk smack to ANYBODY.  Some of those guys look like plain old guys, that you would see anywhere, and you would never know that they could punch my lights out and fold me into a shoe box if they wanted to at any moment.

you just never know who is who.

That is funny.  I agree with Robie.  One time we were sitting in the airport in those seats where you sit face to face in long rows.  This guy was talking really loud on his cell and all of us were rolling our eyes and showing signs of discontent. The lady right next to him had been trying to read and all of a sudden she started to read out loud.  We all started smirking and finally he turned to her and ask why she was doing that.  She said if you can be rude and  talk loud then I can read out loud.  Airports are the worst for this--my pet peeve.

This was an older guy, didn't look that dangerous at all. But a real loudmouth, and pretty rough looking. I came so close to telling him to pipe down--glad I didn't.

That's crazy! I am always tempted to speak up if something/someone is being really obnoxious, but I don't always have it in me to actually say something. Tonight I was fed up with the dad who honks every time he comes to pick up his son from the house next to ours (it's always after 7 p.m.), so I picked up Charlie (I figure you can't be too mean to a mom holding a sweet baby), walked outside, quietly tapped on his window and asked if he wouldn't mind not honking after 7 p.m. because my sleeping toddler's bedroom is right next to the alley. He was SO nice and I was really glad I said something (rather than getting really frustrated every time he showed up).

But in a place like a DMV, I don't have as much nerve...

hmmm I should be more careful I guess.  I might be one to speak up.  But I'd be nice about it, does that count?
