I give a hearty thumbs up to the idea of not using one's cell phone whenever one might be interacting with other humans in front of them. It's so rude. This is something I try to raise as food for thought with my teenaged students. They are growing up in a time when it's just the norm to shortchange each other during every conversation by texting or calling someone else at the same time. Hey parents, what's a good way to help kids learn good techno-etiquette??
I definitely agree. And I have had so many frustrating experiences standing behind women in the grocery store line who are yapping on the phone as they attempt to check out, which takes twice as long because they're not paying attention. I think Jamie has a good point too, in that it is so rude to be texting during another conversation with someone who is physically there with you.
Amen! The rude behavior is so common that being curteous is seen as a rarity. We just got a cell phone for Alyssa and have been talking a lot about this stuff.
i really cannot express how unhappy i am with this whole cell phone phenom..people are so stinking rude. i refuse to answer my phone if it interferes with me interacting with someone in person.
I have even seen signs at check-out counters and fast food order lines saying to not use your cell phone. My worst pet peeve though has got to be the airport or doctor office waiting rooms when you are trapped in your chair and have to share the space with someone elses cell phone conversation.
