Cancun Birds behind our building

Submitted by cyclists306 on Thu, 04/15/2010 at 12:11pm.

This is a short clip that I took outside the back door of our El Cid resort building south of Cancun.  I wanted to capture a short example of all the amazing sounds that this wide variety of birds made early in the morning, and when they came back in early evenings.  It was like a symphony of wildlife, and I would enjoy watching and listening quite often.  There was supposed to be an alligator in the marsh too, but we never saw him.

Ya, but who hunts birds with a rifle jay?  Shows what a newb knows about guns.  Stick to your counterstrike video games.

No Scott you re wrong.Brandt used a blow dart gun and he would get 6 at a time with the 6 darts.  Said it was really interesting how when one of them would drop the others would kind of look down wondering what had happened.  If you shot into the tree you would maybe get one or two but they would all fly away.  We felt it was OK for Brandt to rid us of Starlings because they are really obnoxious birds. They not only prey on other birds, (personally saw them attack some young barn swallows and kill them) Where ever their dropping would hit the leaves of Squash potatoes etc. it would just burn the leaves, and actually the cats or anything else won't eat them) They can light on and strip a cherry tree in a matter of minutes.  It is the one bird or wild thing I think we would all be better without.
