I have heard that a lot of people with families really like Las Vegas--they just don't hang out on the strip.  I used to live in Phoenix and loved it.  I am surprised Dallas and Houston are so high.  Well now I read the article and it says Buffalo is #1 for starter home affordability--that is HARD to believe.   Ha ha Salt Lake is #1 marriage rank and #36 divorce.  New York is #1 divorce.  Fun article to read.

Dallas is awesome.  Houston is a dump, so i am really surprised that Houston is up there.  I am even surprised that Portland is #30.  There is next to nothing to do in the downtown area.  One good theater for quality productions, most of the restaurants are very odd, a few are real good, and mostly very odd night clubs.  Seattle at 35 - should be higher than Portland.  There are many more things to do there.

San Francisco at 20 - no way.  It should be higher.  I'd put San Fran in the top 3.

Well Geoff the moto I always see is 'Keep Portland Weird'.  I guess weirdos like to hang out at weird places.  They can have that city because I'm not all that impressed.  Much more to do and much nicer in San Fran.

As far as weird, San Fran has weird places that way out do anything Portland has to offer.  Portland is Provo Utah in comparison to SF for being weird.

I think some columnists put these together and really don't do any research.  What do they care..  they just hope that by the title alone, people will read it.  New York should be in the top 3.
